Our Favorite Specialty Foods Sources
Following is a listing of some of our favorite specialty food outlets, and general information about each one. If you've never tried some of these, now might be a good time if you have a special holiday or birthday coming up.
- Hickory Farms
For years we have sent a gift package of Hickory Farms products to my parents, who live out of state. We usually go to our local mall where there is a Hickory Farms store located within, browse their selection, make our choice, pay for it and arrange for shipping right to their door. You can't get much better than that, right? Well, they also have an online store, so it does get better, as you can view their selection from the comfort of your computer chair, make your selection, pay for it online and arrange for delivery. Prices range from around $10 on up, and the gift boxes and baskets can contain a variety of crackers, meats, cheeses, candies, cookies, nuts, desserts, jams & jellies, and more. If you shop online, you'll see an attractive photo of the product so you'll know what you are sending. There will be shipping charges, so if your recipient is close to you, you may want to go visit the mall and pick up your selection yourself to save money. - Starbucks Coffee
For the coffee drinkers on your gift list, give the gift of Starbucks coffees and related items. They offer gift boxes starting at just under $25 which usually contain several different blends of coffee and perhaps a thermos or mug, depending on your choice. They will ship or you can purchase from your local Starbucks store and take it with you, for your local gift recipients.
- FarmPac Kitchens
They specialize in smoked meats of all kinds as well as a variety of sauces to complement the meats. Prices range from $15 to $100 and more, and orders are shipped usually the next day, unless you order close to a weekend. - igourmet.com
This is a gourmet foods website, you can order to your heart's content pretty much any food from any category here. Their specialities include fine cheeses, wines, meats and seafoods, desserts, sauces, coffees and teas, gift baskets, and much much more. Also included on their web site are tips for using their products, such as "what cheeses go with what wines?" - Redenvelope.com
This online good gifts company offers a variety of food baskets, starting at about $20 and going on up from there. Choose from desserts, teas, nuts, cookies and confections, and other foods. You should find plenty to choose from here.
