What Is a Treadmill
Buying a treadmill is a lot like buying a new car - there are many models to choose from, and so many different options. So just use the same mentality you use when you buy a car. The more expensive cars have the best options and superior performance. Well, treadmills are much the same. "You get what you pay for" is as true for treadmills as it is for cars. So test-drive them all. Get the feel of them. You'll need to find one that suits your unique stride. And if you're tall, consider a "stretch" model, it makes a huge difference. And by the way, if you walk your dog, look for one of the new extra-wide models - enough room for you and your dog.
Don't just buy your treadmill. Make sure you check out the mechanical side, and not just the cosmetics. Any good treadmill worth it's weight will have at least a 2HP continuous motor. The deck should be able to absorb the impact that could normally injure your joints. And, if you're a long-distance terrain runner, you'll be delighted with the models that duplicate the ups and downs of an outside course - all automatically. On the better models, you can actually program in your own terrain preferences.
