Taking Your Fantasy Basketball Team to the Next Level
|
Fantasy sports are the fastest growing sports in the United States today. Fantasy leagues allow fans to hop on the Internet and compete like they are the general managers or owners of their very own professional team; and fantasy basketball leagues are leading the industry. But how can you take your team to the top. How can you surpass all others and manage your team to greatness.
Well, one of the most important factors in having a good basketball season is to start with a good draft. Drafting the right players is the key to success and taking your team to the playoffs. And while you can never exactly tell who is going to have an O.K. season, a good season or a great season, it is still possible to hedge some of the risk. Of course all the real stars, like Kobe Bryant or Shaquille O'Neal (Shaq) go in the first round. But the key to playing like the Lakers of late or the Cleveland Cavaliers is to draft a well-rounded team. Rather than having a star with a bunch of mediocre players, strive for a team of seasoned veterans that do not have history of injuries and see significant time. These are the guys that will make the game winning shot and bring your season home.
Where To Play

- Yahoo fantasy leagues are easy to use and provide excellent service from the draft to the play-offs.
How the Fantasy League Works
Fantasy Leagues start with their own fictional draft of actual players. The drafts are similar to real life drafts and can be just as suspenseful. After the draft, managers organize their teams and prepare for the start of the actual season. Leagues are run by commissioners who also happen to be participants. Points are scored based on actual player performance and different scenarios wield different point values. This is why all your fantasy friends are glued to the television and the Internet, constantly checking on scores and statistics. Fantasy players live and die by stats.
Know your Schedule
Everyone knows games played, is half the battle in a fantasy head-to-head league. You need your guys healthy and playing frequently for them to max their value in a given week. It's especially important in a win-or-go-home setting such as the Playoffs to know which teams are going to playing the most games down the stretch.
Check the Scouting Reports
Knowing which players are picked to play well, and which ones have been seen taking a nosedive, can make all the difference.
Don't Panic
It is easy to panic early in the season when a guy goes down for a minor injury. Remove him from your line-up but don't trade him. You never know who will come back strong, and good players look to make an impression after an injury, he could end up having an all-star season.Tips for Having the Perfect Season
